Niluh
My name is Ni Luh Sukasih. I was born in Gianyar Ubud on the 25th of November 1988. I am originally from Ubud, but now I am staying with ibu Asri in Denpasar. When I was young, my sister took care of me because my father, I Gede Parwata, became sick and passed away while I was still in my mother’s belly. Only three moon after I was born, my mother, Ni Made Ceraki, passed away too. During his life, my father had two wives. With the first wife, he had five children. With the second wife, he also had five children. I am the youngest from the second wife.

When I am in my village, I help my sister do house work. I like it there because it is quiet and relaxing. I was able to go to school and study from primary through junior high school because my sister paid for the school. When I finished junior high school, my teacher introduced me to ibu Asri from the Rotary club in Ubud. Ibu Asri allowed me to stay in her house and helped me with school. When I stay with ibu Asri, I take care of her dog and some times do cooking and cleaning. I am happy there. I can still go to my village when I miss my family because my village is only one hour away. Ibu Asri put me through senior high school and a one-year computer program at the university.

But my real dream is to be in nursing. When I finished my one year program, ibu Asri introduced me to her friend named Putu Ardana. He told me that he had friends who could maybe help me if I wanted to go to nursing school. Putu introduced me to Mike, Scott, and Matt. After meeting with them and telling them how I wanted to be a midwife, they told me that they will help me to go to nursing school. This made me feel very lucky and very happy. My family was also happy, and they support my dream. Now everything is going well. My studies at Universitas Udayana start in September. I look forward to this because I think it will provide me with a good job, and it will be good for the future.
