| When I finished high school, I wanted to go to
university
to learn about computers, but I could not. My family could not help me
because college is very expensive, so instead I went looking for a job.
In 2003, I started working at Mama’s German Restaurant. This was my
first big job. I was very happy working in Mama’s restaurant because I
could help support my family. In July of 2006, I met Mike and Nee Lee
from the USA. I told them about how I wanted to go to college, but
could not afford to do so, and they told me that they would send me to
the university. I felt very lucky and very happy because they helped to
make my dream come true! The next month I started my studies at the University with Informatika Komputer D2, which is 2-year program. Mike paid for everything for school, including buying me a computer. He also sent me money every moon, so that I could continue to help support my family. That made my life good. Step by step, my family and I made improvements to the house. It is looking nice now and my life is better. Mike, Nee Lee and a new friend, Scott, came to Bali again in 2007. I was proud to show them how they had helped change my life. Unfortunately, I had to stop working at Mama’s about three moon ago. Working and studying was more than I could handle. I stopped working so that I could concentrate on my studies. I will have my final test very soon. Then on the 13th of December, I will have my graduation ceremony. In July of 2008, Mike and Scott returned to Bali. Again, they brought a new friend. His name is Matt. This was the third time Mike has returned to Bali, and each time they sponsor new students like me. Because I will finish my studies soon, they asked me if I wanted to be the new manager for the students in Bali. This is a good job for me, and I am very happy to become manager. I am proud of them and how they helped me. Now, I will help them to help others.... Originally Posted: August 2008 |
